Prime Day 101: A Beginner’s Guide to Amazon’s Big Day of Deals
Even in its 3rd year running, Prime Day 📦 can still be a puzzling and overwhelming experience for Amazon customers, new and old. That being said, we here at Mediabridge want to help by giving you a crash course on Amazon’s annual day of deals. And since Prime Day 2017 arrives on Tuesday, July 11th, there’s just enough time to learn the ins and outs of this Amazon-exclusive event. This leads us to our first lesson…
So, what’s Prime Day, anyway?
Think of it as Amazon’s own Black Friday…except that it’s on a Tuesday. Put simply, it’s their site-wide sales event just for Prime members. And frankly, calling it an “event” is quite the understatement, considering it will involve 200,000+ special offers, rolling out incrementally every 5 minutes or so. Although it technically kicks off on Tuesday, you can shop several deals as early as 9PM ET the day before. These discounts will cover pretty much everything included with Prime-from music and video to reading and voice shopping (Alexa).
That sounds great and all, but how do I get started?
Starting 9PM ET on Monday, July 10th, you’ll be able find everything on www.amazon.com/primeday. Going off of that, we highly recommend downloading the Amazon App to “watch” specific offers and receive alerts when they going live. That way, there’s never a sweet deal passing you by. Keep in mind that if you want to shop any of these sales, you’ll first need to be an Amazon Prime member.
OK, but what if I’m not an Amazon Prime member?
Have we got good news for you: New Amazon Prime members get a 30-day free trial before even having to pay a dime. After that, plans costs $99/year or $10.99/month. So, if you really wanted to, you could sign up for the free trial, take part in Prime Day celebrations, and cancel after 30 days. We won’t judge.
How am I supposed to find what I want among hundreds of thousands of deals?
You deserve a medal if you can actually get through 200,000+ deals. Fortunately, Amazon has conveniently narrowed down deals by their most shopped-for themes. Whether you’re a pet lover or gardener, techie or artist, you’ll be able to find what you’re looking for in no time flat.
What happens if I miss out on a deal that I want?
If an offer gets to be “100% claimed,” click the “join waitlist” button on its listing page. If additional stock gets added, you’ll receive an alert on your mobile device. To preemptively avoid this problem, download the Amazon App and get alerts the second a deal goes live.
Cool, so am I ready for Prime Day now?
